They Hate Us For Our Freedom
In case you hadn’t noticed, the right is becoming increasingly more desperate. This election is one giant character attack, and it flows down to every man, woman, and child with the courage to stand up to the GOP. But 40 years of failure is a bad example, and these school-yard bullies and mental midgets can’t compete with the universal message of change. So they fight back with the only thing they have left: hate. They hate us for our candidate. They hate us for our ideals. They hate us for our individuality. They hate us for our intellect. And most importantly, they hate us for our freedom.
Unlike the Neo-Conservative movement, we are allowed to diagree with one another. We are encouraged to debate, and look up facts, and explore different ideas. We are also allowed to criticize America…and we do so out of love. We understand what America is supposed to be, and we can see what it’s become under the fist of Republican ideology. We can hold seemingly confliciting ideas in our head at the same time, and be supportive of both, i.e., we support our troops, but disagree with the war in Iraq. This is looked upon as something wholly un-American by the Fundie crowd, and it is exactly that narrow-mindedness that will ulitmately bring about their undoing.
I want you guys to think about something for me, and comment if you feel one way or the other about this: When you all read the right wing posts on this site or others, do you see the genuine opinions of the authors, or do you see the same talking points and links to articles over and over? Do you see original commentary? Do you see dissenting opinions?
Last, but certainly not least, here’s last night’s New Rules from Real Time with Bill Maher. I’m including this for two reasons. 1) It’s fucking funny. 2)The song “If You’re Out There” by John Legend, which he was kind enough to perform live at the end of the show.
Stumble It!
Yeah, we are just so clueless as to come over to “your side”. The side that thinks nothing of stealing national elections, has mired us in a war that they lied about in order to get us in to, has sunk to the absolute lowest depths I have EVER seen in ANY political campaign.
Wake up. The koolaide has replaced the cells in your brain.
Great post, threedegrees. I am going to link to it on Inspire.
